As we wrap up another great year, we're so very thankful for what has been accomplished. The artists, sponsors, performers, and crowd are unlike anything we see at other events. The support for Por Vida creates the energy of it. The Wall of Remembrance grows bigger and bigger each year. Names that fill the wall are people we surely wish we still had in our daily lives, but the fact that people bring and post them, as guests of honor to Por Vida is exactly what this is all about. We will strive year after year to keep this format going and keep it accessible to those that are willing to participate and memorialize in this way, festively and respectfully.

In the coming weeks, we will be adding photos and links to photos of the event.

We wish to congratulate Eden Richardson (12 years) for being this years Por Vida coloring contest winner! Eden will receive a $100 gift certificate to CCAD art classes!

Please join us on Saturday, November 5th at the Salon Hotel Lily for round two of the Por Vida IV art exhibit. This collection is of the remaining available pieces from the Por Vida art show.

We spent the day tidying up the studio and decorating in preparation for Por Vida IV!

The Columbus Alive came in to do a quick interview with myself and artist Kelly Henninger to discuss our work and what's new for the event this year. I'm very proud of what Por Vida has become, and I can hardly wait to share what we have in store for you.

Listen in to CD101 on the morning of Monday, October 24th (8:15) when Dan Gerdeman and I will talk about Por Vida on air, and Dan will be sharing what he has been diligently working, the DJ booth altar dedicated to the late Andyman of Cd101 fame.

On Tuesday, October 25th, join us at Surly Girl Saloon as they host a benefit event all day and night for Por Vida IV. You'll just have to come, eat, drink, and check the bottom of your seat for a chance to win one of the last remaining tickets for free entry to Por Vida IV.

Live music and DJ-

Columbus’ own Yolkfellow will perform a set at 11pm, and DJ Captain Lonesome will be spinning vintage and rare soul so come ready to dance.

This year, Columbus artist Dan Gerdeman will be creating a devotion alter for late CD101 DJ Andy Davis “Andyman” as the Por Vida DJ booth.

Fine art-

Twenty artists create work that is their response to death, mourning, and dealing with loss. This is a group show curated by Columbus artist and Por Vida creator, Kat Marie Moya. You will see a large variety of interpretive works;

personal, political, metaphorical, and varied mediums that create an exclusive exhibit for Por Vida each year.

Wall of Remembrance-

Another unique feature to Por Vida is our mural wall that fills with photographs, stories, and special messages throughout the weekend to introduce and share those we have lost, and have come to honor at Por Vida.

Bring copies of photographs and your stories to hang on the Wall of Remembrance.

Sanctuary Room-
Columbus, Ohio artist Brian Reaume creates a “sanctuary room” for Por Vida each year. His installation work is unlike anything you’ve ever seen, generating a themed sanctuary that provides an experience to the visitor. These temporary spaces are a sin to miss.

Por Vida merchandise-

Each year, Por Vida creates a little something special for our guests to get a piece of memorabilia from our unique event. This year, THOUGHTCO will be printing the Por Vida IV “Skelecada” design on your shirt or theirs. Bring a shirt for $6, or purchase one of theirs with the Por Vida IV image for $12. Also available will be limited edition posters, lino print cards and banners designed by the Por Vida IV committee.

Food and drink-

Pattycake Bakery provides Por Vida IV with themed sweets, Vegeliscious Food Cart and Junior’s Taco truck will be out front! In other words, bring your appetite!

Pattycake Bakery will provide Por Vida sweets and all will be able to try their hand at sugar skull decorating!

CD101 will park their ice cream truck out front so be prepared to satiate the sweet tooth!

Por Vida merchandise will be available. This year we offer exclusive kids T’s with one of our “Skelecada” logos on front. THOUGHTCO will offer printing on your shirt or theirs for $6 (yours), or $12 (theirs). Limited edition posters, cards and banners will also be available.

Por Vida’s all ages day is designed to introduce the idea of honoring those we have lost in a comfortable, open-minded and creative environment. Artmobile will offer face-painting while Por Vida offers several crafts for the younger crowds to enjoy.

There will also be a coloring contest for 12 and under. There will be a $1 entry fee. Winner will receive a surprise gift bag and a photo with their winning piece on our site.

Por Vida IV fine art will remain on exhibit for all to view and enjoy as well as the Wall of Remembrance, so be sure to bring copies of photos, stories and notes to share.
